In Creative Movers three to four year old dancers will enjoy a fun introduction to dance. Students learn a variety of jazz, ballet, tap and acrobatic movements, offered in eight or twelve week sessions.
Ballet/Tap Movers, Jazz/Acro Movers and Pre School are a natural progression from Creative Movers where students are exposed to the fundamentals of ballet, jazz, tap and acro styles for the full year. Recommended age is four to five years and students are involved in our year end recital.
The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) ballet syllabus provides a worthwhile sense of achievement for the recreational dancer, while providing the strength and flexibility needed for those pursuing a career in classical ballet. Primary Ballet begins at 6 years old. Level 3 Ballet students and up dance twice weekly, or once weekly for 2 years at the teacher’s discretion. Pointe classes begin at the Standard 5 level.
Following the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) Modern Theatre syllabus, our jazz classes have a contemporary style. Students work on postural placement, clean body lines, rhythm, musicality and creative expression. Primary Jazz begins at 6 years old.
Tap involves learning the technique of sound quality, rhythm and style. Students learn a variety of combinations from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) syllabus. Primary Tap begins at 6 years old.
Acro is a unique form of dance that combines gymnastic movements with dance steps. Students learn basic balances and tumbling as well as partner work. All teachers are Acrobatic Arts certified. Primary Acro begins at 6 years old.
Dance at its rawest form, Hip-Hop includes elements from Jazz, African, Tap, American and Latino dance cultures. It is a very energetic and rhythmic form of dance that can be choreographed or improvised. Minimum age is 7 years old. **Boys only class for ages 5-7!
These classes are a great addition to your current training! Whether you are looking for more choreography, want to improve your progressions across the floor or learn to create work yourself. These classes are designed for the dancer with experience in Jazz 4 or higher who want to improve their technique or just try something new.
We offer classes for kids with a range of special needs. All dancers are welcome! Students will be paired with a Dance Mentor but their aids are also invited to share in the fun!
Dance Alive is offered on Friday nights to dancers aged 7 and up. The main focus is on choreography and performance in a variety of settings, and fun! The dancer must have a minimum one-year dance experience and be studying both ballet and jazz. Students are accepted by audition. Our Student Teacher Education Program (STEP) is for students age 16 and up that wish to become student teachers and eventually train to work for Invitation To Dance. Students will participate in this class once a week, as well as be assigned to a few classes during the week to assist on.
